Near-field focusing with optical phase antennas.

چکیده
We investigate the near-field focusing properties of three-dimensional phase antennas consisting of concentric rings designed to have source and image spots separated by several microns from the lens. Tight focal spots are obtained for silicon or gold rings patterned in a silica matrix. We analyze in detail the dependence of the performance of these lenses on geometrical parameters such as the number of rings, the ring thickness, and the focal distance. Subwavelength focal spots are found to form at distances of tens of wavelengths from the lens, thus suggesting applications to remote sensing and penlight microscopy and lithography.

Near-field imaging of optical antenna modes in the mid-infrared.
Optical antennas can enhance the coupling between free-space propagating light and the localized excitation of nanoscopic light emitters or receivers, thus forming the basis of many nanophotonic applications. Their functionality relies on an understanding of the relationship between the geometric parameters and the resulting near-field antenna modes. Using scattering-type scanning near-field op...
متن کاملFabrication of bowtie aperture antennas for producing sub-20 nm optical spots.
Bowtie aperture antennas are known to generate sub-diffraction limited optical spots in the visible and near-infrared frequencies, which can be applied to many areas. Regular bowtie apertures fabricated by FIB suffer from tapered sidewall and rounded corner, which degrade its optical enhancement and localization. In this work, a new fabrication method is demonstrated to manufacture bowtie apert...
متن کاملFocusing Properties of Ultra Wideband Transient Arrays
Some new focusing properties of time-domain ultra wide band (UWB) focusing array antennas are presented. The large current radiator (LCR) is considered as the UWB antenna element. Each LCR is replaced by a set of infinitesimal dipoles modeling both the near field and the far field patterns of the antenna element, as well as the coupling between the elements. Several antenna arrays with differen...

Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM) is a member of scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) family which enables nanostructure investigation of the surfaces on a wide range of materials. In fact, SNOM combines the SPM technology to the optical microscopy and in this way provide a powerful tool to study nano-structures with very high spatial resolution. In this paper, a qualified overview of ...
